Laconia Motorcycle Week is ready to roll June 8-16 in New Hampshire

Event is fifth stop on 2019 AMA National Gypsy Tour schedule

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Laconia Motorcycle Week, known as the world’s oldest motorcycle rally, gets rolling June 8 in Laconia, N.H.

The event is the fifth of eight stops on the 2019 AMA National Gypsy Tour, a series of premier road-riding events that includes some of the country’s largest and best known motorcycle gatherings. It is the only event on the tour that is designated as a Historic Gypsy Tour.

“The Laconia Gypsy Tour began in 1916, and the event’s popularity has grown through the years because of the beautiful setting and the great riding in the area,” said AMA Recreational Riding Manager Heather Wilson. “Laconia, as well as the other stops on the 2019 AMA National Gypsy Tour schedule, offers riders of all types of motorcycles to come together for camaraderie, riding, entertainment and food.”

Laconia Motorcycle Week runs June 8-16.

Laconia Motorcycle Week is a much-expanded version of the early “Gypsy Tour” years, offering attendees plenty of fun, food, music, racing and spectator-friendly hill climb competitions. Organizers expect more than 250,000 riders to descend on the Lakes Region for the rally.

AMA members who attend can show their AMA cards and get the official 2019 AMA Gypsy Tour pin at rally headquarters on the boardwalk of Lakeside Avenue next to the pier.

The AMA has been sanctioning Gypsy Tours since 1924. Originally overnight events with organized road rides and other activities of interest, motorcycle enthusiasts would converge on specific destinations. Gypsy Tours were staged in different parts of the country and typically occurred on the same weekend every year.
