Team Honda HRC’s Hunter Lawrence earned the top spot on the 250SX East podium for the seventh time in 2023 — this time to celebrate his coronation as the 250SX East Champion.
The first 250SX title of his career, Lawrence used a dominant Nashville AMA Supercross event on Saturday to spring ahead by an insurmountable 56 points in the season standings.
“I just want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart,” Hunter Lawrence said on the podium after the race. “Everyone that is with me now was with me when I was at my lowest of lows, so this is incredible. I can’t say I dreamed of this as a kid, because I didn’t know this was possible. I’m choked up; this is just surreal. This weekend has been incredible — the perfect day. I just want to celebrate this with everyone I love and care about — the whole team. This means the world.”
In the final stretch of the AMA Supercross season, Team Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton used his fourth 450SX win of the year to catapult up into second place in the season standings with just two events remaining.
Sexton jumped ahead of Red Bull KTM’s Cooper Webb, who left the event after a crash in his heat race forced him out of the competition.
Nearing back-to-back titles, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac, who took second in Nashville, holds an 18-point advantage over Sexton.
Denver hosts the penultimate round of the AMA Supercross season on Saturday.
