Clearing house serves those seeking collaboration with California State Parks’ 50th Anniversary
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. —Formed in 2020 to help commemorate the California State Parks’ Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Program’s 50th anniversary (1971-2021), the California Outdoor Recreation Foundation (CORF) will serve as a central clearing house for individuals and organizations seeking to collaborate with State Parks to celebrate this important recreation milestone throughout 2021.
The CORF Board of Directors is a dedicated group of volunteers, who bring a wide range of experience and synergy across the spectrum of off-highway vehicle recreation, including environmental stewardship, safety and education. We invite like-minded partners, state and federal agencies, manufacturers and recreation-based organizations to join us in this celebration.
CORF recently received notification from the IRS that it is a recognized public charity exempt from federal income tax under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3). That classification allows donors to deduct contributions under IRC Section 170. It also qualifies CORF to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Sections 2055, 2106 or 2522.
“The IRS confirmation letter allows us to obtain corporate insurance, receive grants/donations and enter into partnership agreements,” Paul Slavik, the Foundation’s president, said. “It is a significant accomplishment, that will enhance our efforts to support the California State Park’s Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Program’s fifty (50) years of providing world class recreation and environmental stewardship to residents and visitors of the Golden State.”
Members of the CORF Board of Directors are: Don Amador past member and chairman of the California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Commission and Government Affairs Director of the AMA District 36; Robert Ettleman-recreation planner with the County of Los Angeles, Department Parks & Recreation; Amy Granat executive director of the CORVA Foundation; Nick Haris the western states representative for the American Motorcyclist Association; and Paul Slavik past member and chairman of the California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Commission.
