Photographer Michael Lichter talks Sturgis and more in the November issue of ‘American Motorcyclist’
Michael Lichter talks photography and Sturgis; Andrew Wheeler talks photography and cooking; and Ted Freedman talks about searching for the perfect motorcycle. All those stories and more are in the November issue of American Motorcyclist magazine, the monthly publication for AMA members.
Lichter has been taking photos annually at Sturgis since his first Black Hills Rally in 1979. He’s also attended hundreds of motorcyclist gatherings and events during the intervening years with his trusty cameras, and he’s seen a lot of change. For two decades, he has put together “Motorcycle and Art” exhibits in Rapid City, S.D., and then Sturgis.
But the 2020 exhibition “Heavy Mettle: Motorcycles and Art with Moxie” proved to be a real challenge because of COVID-19. Find out why in the magazine story.
Photographer Andrew Wheeler, meanwhile, is best known for shooting MotoGP races. But the Brit also is a mean chef. In his story, he shares some of his best MotoGP photos, as well as some of his best recipes.
Ted Freedman is an AMA Charter Life Member who lives in Old Lyme, Conn., and who is searching for the perfect motorcycle. He’s had more than 20 motorcycles in his lifetime and details his search for the perfect machine.
Meanwhile, don’t miss the story about a replica of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Danny “Magoo” Chandler’s 1979 Maico 250 Magnum II and what made Chandler’s bike so special.
Plus, you can find out what’s happening in your state on the government front by checking out the Rights section of the magazine and find local races and rides in the Events Calendar.
