Highway bill passes House

Motorcycle-friendly provisions included

The full House of Representatives passed H.R. 2, the Invest in America Act, also known as the federal highway bill.

The bill includes several provisions that benefit motorcyclists.

The original bill included an increase in motorcycle safety funding. During the House Transportation Committee markup, protections related to motorcyclist profiling, autonomous vehicles and the federal Motorcyclist Advisory Council were added as amendments.

During consideration of the bill on the House floor, an amendment was made that helps collect data on motorcyclist profiling.

The bill moved to the U.S. Senate.
