Community Support for Education through Racing

We are excited to reveal this year’s recipients of our Annual Scholarship Race scholarships to our moto community. We congratulate these four outstanding individuals:

• Jonathan Getz, an On Track School student from Florida, has spent the last nine years practicing and competing in motocross. He has qualified and attended Loretta Lynn’s for the past eight years, beginning in 2015. Jonathan holds 42 AMA titles, and has been chosen to participate in the Mx Master Kids in France in 2016, 2017, and 2022, winning the championship in 2017 and 2022. Jonathan received a $1,500 scholarship.

“I strive to be a positive influence both on and off the track,” Jonathan said. “I am committed and driven in everything I do, which includes motocross and my education. My grades reflect all the hard work I put in both on and off the track.”

• Chase Moynihan, an On Track School student who also hails from Florida, plans to be a professional motocross rider and have a career in engineering. A key goal is to help people. Of course, Chase volunteers on the track. He also volunteers by helping his mom, a speech therapist, interact and communicate with her clients through sign language. “I play games with her clients in sign language to help motivate them,” he said. Chase received a $1,000 scholarship.

According to Chase, 2022 was a good year. “I have learned so much and continue to grow. In 2022, I feel like I really grew as a rider, and I feel like 2023 will be a great year! I am proud of achieving Mini Os 2022 Top Ten and most recently, “Moto Playgrounds Dirty 100.”

• Leum Oehlhof, an Elite Academics student, lives in California and maintains a 4.0 grade point average while competing and winning nationally. Academics and professional motocross are his priorities as he looks at graduating in 2024. He took first place at the AZ Open and brought home many prizes from Mini Os. Leum received a $2,000 scholarship. 

“My motivation is having fun, doing the work to succeed, having that adrenaline rush, and seeing theresults at the end,” said Leum, who hopes to become a mentor for other student athletes.

• Noah Schuring graduated from his high school in Michigan and now attends Florida State University. Noah excels in college, currently earning a 3.984 grade point average, and excels on the track with too many wins to list. In between, he volunteers at his local track, at church, and at his local food bank. Noah received a $3,000 scholarship. 

“I have a relentless passion to improve my craft on my motorcycle and always keep learning in anything and everything I do. My life goal is to become a professional motocross racer and to have a lucrative career afterwards — so I put equivalent discipline into my racing and schooling efforts.”

All eligible racers who competed in a qualifying Scholarship Race have an opportunity to apply for additional funding each year. Donations to Scholarship Race create the opportunity for young athletes to pursue their education and their sport simultaneously with no limitations. We would like to thank the following for their commitment to supporting education through racing; MMCR, Stallings Motors, Rambana & Ricci, Lynk Racing, Water Street Seafood, John Henry Mitchell, Pro-Tech, Diversified, Honda of South Georgia, ProCircuit, and On Track School.

The 2022 Cash for Class event brought in 528 individual race entries and raised more than $22,000 in donations. Of that, $12,500 was paid in scholarship certificates to 529 education savings plans.Remaining donations are held in an endowment fund by On Track Leaming Solutions, Inc. For 2022, all eligible racers who competed in a qualifying Scholarship Race had the opportunity to apply for$7,500 in scholarship funds held in the endowment.

Donations made in support of Scholarship Race will receive a 100% tax deduction through the Scholarship Endowment Fund, a non-profit 50J(c)(3). For more information visit scholarshiprace.com.
