2021 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship Gets Underway August 7
Over two intense days of competition, riders will battle for AMA No. 1 plates at the Valley Springs Motorcycle Club in Bay City, Wis.
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (July 20, 2021) — The nation’s best amateur motorcycle and ATV hillclimb competitors are set to test their prowess at the Valley Springs Motorcycle Club in Bay City, Wis., for the 2021 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship, August 7-8.
“The hill at the Valley Springs Motorcycle Club facility presents many challenges to the competitors,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “Only the best of the best will come out with AMA National Championship #1 plates after the intense two days of competition are complete.”
In addition to competing for AMA No. 1 plates, racers will vie for awards recognizing the AMA Hillclimb Racer of the Year, AMA Vet/Senior Hillclimb Racer of the Year, ATV Hillclimb Racer of the Year, King of the Hill and AMA Youth Hillclimb Racer of the Year.
The King of the Hill award will be given to the fastest competitor in a run-off. Riders with the 10 fastest times during the weekend will compete for the honor in a one-run class at the end of the program Sunday.
Valley Springs Motorcycle Club has periodically hosted the AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship over the last five decades.
“Valley Springs Motorcycle Club is excited to host the 2021 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship at our spectacular hill in Bay City, Wisconsin,” said Mike Bronk, Vice President of the Valley Spring Motorcycle Club. “The first time the AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship was here was 1977. Since then, many things have changed but the hill is still up to the challenge. The club has been hard at work to ensure a magnificent event for all the participants and their families.”
Gates open at 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Competition begins at 8 a.m. Gates close at 9 p.m. nightly.
Dating back to the turn of the 20th century, Hillclimb is one of the AMA’s oldest racing disciplines. In the competition, the country’s best amateur athletes scramble to reach the top of the hill, with the winner determined by the quickest time.
